The Friends of the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center recently honored Albert Vera Jr. at its annual major fundraiser. Albert was recognized for the generous donations he has contributed to the many nonprofit and community groups helping children and families. He is continuing the tradition of giving back started by his parents decades ago. Master of Ceremonies Mike Cohen provided an exciting program that kept everyone entertained. Ronnie Jayne's music enhanced the evening for the 150 attendees. All proceeds from the event will help maintain free healthcare for students at the Health Center.
Cohen set the stage for the evening saying, "The theme of tonight's gala, Come Sail Away, praises the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center for nourishing our children, physically and mentally, helping to supply the wind for our children to sail on to rewarding adventures."
The evening is one of the most popular gatherings of community leaders of the year. Past and present mayors, school board members and other dignitaries along with a plethora of local citizens and business leaders.
The Sandy Segal Youth Health Center provides free quality health care for hundreds of Culver City youth each year, along with supportive services and health education benefiting entire families.
Cohen went on to recognize the generosity of Vera with, "Our honoree, Albert Vera, is an advocate for our youth. He encourages children's dreams to sail by saying, "Yes," every time we ask."
President of the Culver City Exchange Club, Francia Fate presented a $10,000 check for the health center.
Commendations and proclamations were presented on behalf of local and state leaders.
