Members of the Culver City Woman's Club recently toured the new Bob Hope USO at LAX facility. The Bob Hope USO serves current members of the military and their dependent family members. Visiting the USO means they need not wait in the often-impersonal airport terminals frequently for many hours. It also means they have available for their exclusive use an array of facilities and services that include complimentary sandwiches, snacks and beverages, recreation areas, secure luggage storage, a theater with big screen TV and a library of literally hundreds of current and classic films on DVD and video, a "Family Room" where children can relax and play games, or simply a place to take a nap. There are separate shower facilities for men and women, and a "quiet room" where the exhausted troops are able to rest undisturbed for a few hours. Complimentary phone calls throughout the country on the "I-Freedom" telephone system allow our troops an opportunity to phone home during their visit. Tables and shade umbrellas are situated on the adjacent outside patio for troops to enjoy the Southern California weather. All services at the Bob Hope USO at LAX are provided to our valiant American warriors and their families without charge thanks to 100% funding from private sources. The Culver City Woman's Club held a fundraiser late last year and donated $1,500 to this wonderful facility!
