Gallery Reception at WLAC February 16

"Timothea Stewart's paintings exude light-filled energy that touches many dimensions in us. She is a remarkable talent," said Arianna Huffington, style setter, co-founder of Huffington Post and founder of Thrive Global.

Stewart is an L.A. native, whose work was recently seen at the Robert Graham Studio in Culver City. She grew up in Los Angeles influenced by her father Bart Lytton, a passionate patron of the arts. Lytton founded Lytton Savings and Loans, one of the largest banks of its day and was a Democratic fundraiser with close ties to John F. Kennedy and California Governor Pat Brown.

The community is invited to an opening reception on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm for her new show "Portals and Mortals," at the Fine Arts Gallery at West Los Angeles College. The college is located at 9000 Overland Avenue - Culver City, CA 90230. The show runs February 16 – March 28 and is curated by Molly Barnes, renowned art dealer and artist in residence at the College. Parking is available for $2 in the adjacent parking structure. Exact change needed.

"Portals and Mortals," features Stewart's recent large-scale paintings exploring forms of energy and transports the viewer into another time or place. Also showing are whimsical drawings from Spain and paintings from the unconscious which juxtapose art and humanity, and highlights three generations of women.

After moving to Europe where she exhibited in Paris and Spain, Stewart disappeared from the art world for a period. She embarked on a spiritual journey followed by a return to the United States which led her to become involved with John-Roger and The Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness. It wasn't until 2012 when a paintbrush found its way back into her hand.

"The paintings became front and center in my life," Stewart said. "I thought that chapter was over and here it was back again but without the angst and perfectionist demands. These paintings are about energy and vibration expressed in color, rhythm and some form."

West Los Angeles College is a ACCJC-accredited community college providing full-time, part-time and online paths to university transfer and career preparation.
