Culver City Company Continues Growth
Carlsbad resident Suzie Velazquez, a veteran in real estate development and management, has been named vice president of property management for Goldrich Kest, one of the industry’s largest companies. Velazquez will oversee a conventional portfolio including 50 multifamily buildings containing some 6,000 apartments and 5 marinas with a total of 2,000 slips, announced Goldrich Kest President Carole Glodney.
Velazquez will tap into her extensive background to fulfill the demands of her new position that covers nearly all aspects of the business from acquisitions and renovations to budgeting, sales & marketing and developing revenue generating strategies.
“We are delighted to welcome to our team someone as highly qualified and experienced as Ms. Velazquez,” said Glodney. “Her proven track record in our industry has earned her a sterling reputation and we look forward to working together and continuing Goldrich Kest’s upward trajectory.”
Prior to joining Goldrich Kest, Velazquez was director of property management at Heritage Properties in Madison, Mississippi where she increased occupancy of its properties from 44% to 99.4% in a single year. And Glodney said that her 6-year stint as a senior regional manager at Essex Property Trust in Palo Alto overseeing a $65 million portfolio uniquely qualified her for her new position. Velazquez also managed properties for several San Diego companies including Strata Equity Group, RENOWN Professional Services, Hunter Chase & Company and Seasilver USA.
Recognized as one of the nation’s most successful real estate companies, Goldrich Kest is a privately owned family-run business that can trace its origins back more than 60 years to two entrepreneurs, Jona Goldrich and Sol Kest, who parlayed their meager savings into an empire. Today, their descendants, known within the company as “G2: The Next Generation,” continue to build upon the eponymous company’s ever-expanding portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial and retail projects. Among them are 120 apartment buildings with 13,188 units, 5 marinas with 2,139 slips, 24 senior living facilities with 4,248 beds, and, scattered throughout the US, more than 11 million square feet of non-residential space. Dozens of their apartment buildings accommodate low-income families and Goldrich Kest offers free after-school and summer programs to keep its young residents engaged and eager to learn.
