Longtime Culver Resident Renée Barmazel Passes

Renée Lesner Barmazel, a longtime Culver City resident, passed away earlier this month in San Luis Obispo. She was 88.

Ms. Barmazel was very active in Culver City politics. She once served as a moderator of the Education Committee and helped to launch Culver's award-winning Spanish Immersion Program.

In her later years, she began working in the travel industry and enjoyed traveling the world with family members. An avid artist, she also enjoyed oil and acrylic painting.

Renée leaves behind the love of her life, husband Mel Barmazel, sister Brenda Ness, children Sherri Barmazel Beller, Steve Barmazel and Michelle Barmazel Steinberg, children-in-law Rich Beller, Margaret Peacock and Kevin Steinberg, grandchildren David and Allison Beller, Jonathan and Natalie Beller, Katie Barmazel, Sarah Barmazel, Zachary Steinberg, Rebecca Steinberg and Benjamin Steinberg, great grandchildren Shaila and Matthea and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial was held on Sept. 12.
