21 Undrafted Free Agents To Join LA Chargers

After concluding the 2018 NFL Draft, the LA Chargers agreed to terms with 21 undrafted free agents:

Tony Brown | Alabama | DB | 6-0 | 198 | Beaumont, Texas

A two-year starter in football and a track All-American … provided leadership on defense and special teams for the Crimson Tide enroute to a National Championship in 2017 … as a senior, the defensive back provided 31 tackles, a tackle for loss, two passes defensed and a quarterback hurry before picking off his first pass of the season in the College Football Playoff National Championship against Georgia … totaled 32 tackles in 2016, but also earned first-team All-America honors in the spring of 2016 for his performance in the 110m hurdles.

B.J. Clay | Georgia State | CB | 6-0 | 190 | Dacula, Ga.

The 6-0, 190-pound Clay appeared in 46 games with the Panthers, recording 39 tackles, 12 passes defensed and three picks … his top season came in 2016 when he tied for the team lead with three interceptions along with five passes defensed.

Zachary Crabtree | Oklahoma State | OT | 6-7 | 310 | Mansfield, Texas

Earned first-team All-Big 12 honors by the coaches and second-team All-Big 12 accolades from the Associated Press … started every game at right tackle with the exception of the Cowboys’ clash against TCU in Stillwater, which he missed to injury in 2017 ... had started 32 consecutive games prior to that contest … Second-team All-Big 12 by the coaches in 2016 ... started every game at right tackle for the second straight season.

Chris Durant | William & Mary | OL | 6-4 | 310 | Oak Hill, Va.

A three-time All-Colonial Athletic Association selection started four years for the Tribe at left tackle … started 36 contests over four seasons (2014-17) after redshirting in 2013 … recognized as third-team All-CAA in each of his final three seasons at William & Mary … as a senior at Oakton High in 2012, earned with first-team All-State honors by Virginia Preps and second-team All-State by the coaches … earned two high school letters on the basketball team.

Marcus Edmond | Clemson | CB | 6-0 | 180 | Hopkins, S.C.

Saw an expanded role in the secondary in 2016, but was hampered by injury in 2017 ... had 27 tackles, a tackle for loss, an interception and three pass breakups in 442 snaps over 37 games (three starts) in his career … tallied 19 tackles in 323 snaps with an interception and three pass breakups over 13 games (three starts) in 2016.

Brandon Facyson | Virginia Tech | CB | 6-2 | 197 | Newnan, Ga.

Appeared in 55 games with 47 starts over his Hokie career, totaling 131 tackles, five interceptions, 44 passes defensed and three forced fumbles … best season came in 2016 when he started all 14 games and made 48 total tackles, four for a loss, forced two fumbles and broke up 11 passes.

Zack Golditch | Colorado State | OL | 6-5 | 295 | Aurora, Colo.

The first-team All-Mountain West selection as a senior appeared in 43 games with 38 starts over his career at Colorado State … the Rams offense ranked No. 11 in the country during his senior season in 2017 and was part of an offensive line that averaged just one sack allowed-per-game in 2016 as a junior … helped the Rams score 23 points and allow no sacks against an No. 1-ranked Alabama team that averaged 3.6 sacks-per-game, good for third in the nation … redshirted as a freshman as he was awarded the NFF Inspiration Award for his courage and resiliency returning to the football field after being among those wounded in the Aurora Theater Shooting.

Albert Havili | Eastern Washington | DE | 6-2 | 255 | Federal Way, Wash.

Registered 199 total tackles with 12 sacks and 18.5 for loss … In 2017 as a senior, played in 11 games … totaled seven sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss … as a junior in 2016, he started all 14 games as EWU’s field defensive end … a former linebacker, Havili had 61 tackles with five sacks from his defensive end position, with two passes broken up and a team-high eight quarterback hurries.

D’Juan Hines | Houston | LB | 6-1 | 230 | Spring, Texas

A 2017 American All-Conference first team selection in 2017 … a three-time American All-Academic selection … started all 12 games in 2017 ... led Houston and was third in The American with 110 total tackles, 57 of which were unassisted ... led Houston and The American with three forced fumbles ... also tallied 6.5 tackles for loss on the year.

Cole Hunt | TCU | TE | 6-7 | 255 | El Campo, Texas

A blocking tight end that transferred from Rice … earned honorable mention All-Big 12 accolades in 2017 … started in 27 career games at TCU with 17 starts … caught 12 passes for 124 yards at TCU … played in 25 games at Rice with six starts.

Bijhon Jackson | Arkansas | DL | 6-1 | 339 | El Dorado, Ark.

Missed just one of 51 possible games in his career, participating on over 1,000 defensive snaps for the Razorbacks … started 12 games in his career, notching 47 tackles (17 solo), nine tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and four QB hits … set a career-high 22 tackles (seven solo) in his 12-start senior season … coming out of El Dorado (Ark.) High, was ranked by ESPN as the No. 1 prospect in Arkansas and the No. 6 defensive tackle in the nation.

Ben Johnson | Kansas | TE | 6-5 | 245 | Basehor, Kan.

Played in 45 career games, making 20 starts at tight end … earned honorable mention All-Big 12 accolades as a sophomore in 2015 … totaled 61 catches for 670 yards … hauled in a career-best 30 passes for 363 yards as a senior in 2017.

JJ Jones | West Georgia | WR | 5-10 | 173 | Macon, Miss.

Caught 24 passes for 278 yards with two touchdowns as a senior in 2017 … missed the 2016 season due to injury … played in 12 games as a junior in 2015 ... caught 11 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns ... averaged 13.6 yards per catch.

Tevin Lawson | Nicholls State | DL | | 6-3 | 285 | Denham Springs, La.

A transfer that played three seasons at TCU … in his lone season for Nicholls State, Lawson played in 12 games with seven starts and totaled 25 tackles … he forced and recovered and fumble and blocked one kick … spent three seasons with the Horned Frogs… appeared in seven games in 2015, finishing with 13 tackles … played in all 13 games as a sophomore and saw action in 11 games as a true freshman.

Anthony Manzo-Lewis | Albany | FB/TE | 6-0 | 257 | Montvale, N.J.

The 6-0, 257-pound Manzo-Lewis played a hybrid fullback/tight end role for the Great Danes … was a second-team All-CAA selection after catching 20 passes for 188 yards … earned All-CAA Football First Team at fullback/halfback in 2016.

Detrez Newsome | Western Carolina | RB | 5-10 | 210 | Raeford, N.C.

Set a school-record with 6,969 all-purpose yards … ranks second in school history in career rushing yards (3,728), rushing touchdowns (37) and 100-yard rushing games (16) … in 2017, Newsome became the first Catamount player ever to eclipse 1,000 yards rushing for three straight seasons … WCU all-time leader with 46 total TDs, adding seven additional scores through the air and two on kickoff returns.

Steven Richardson | Minnesota | DL | 6-0 | 292 | Chicago, Ill.

Richardson started 12 games as a senior, tallying 23 tackles and one forced fumble … finished his career with 103 tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks and five forced fumbles in 48 games … started all 12 games in 2017 … recorded 23 tackles, forced one fumble and recovered one fumble enroute to earning All-Big Ten honorable mention accolades.

Trent Scott | Grambling State | OT | 6-5 | 320 | Huntsville, Ala.

Earned All-SWAC first team accolades in 2017 … the 6-5 tackle allowed only three sacks throughout his entire collegiate career … in 2017 he had 39 pancakes without allowing a single sack.

Kent Shelby | McNeese State | WR | 6-3 | 208 | New Orleans, La.

Capped off his career by ranking eighth in school history in touchdown receptions (11), 17th in career receptions (80) and 18th in career receiving yards (1,285) … in 2017, hauled in 48 passes for 625 yards and three TDs.

Nic Shimonek | Texas Tech | QB | 6-3 | 225 | Mildred, Texas

Put together a strong senior season in his first year as a collegiate starter … helped lead the Red Raiders to the Birmingham Bowl after playing in all 13 games with 12 starts … ranked among the most accurate passers in the country … completed 328-of-493 passes on the year for a 66.5 percentage … threw for 3,963 yards and 33 touchdowns with just 10 interceptions.

Shane Tripucka | Texas A&M | P | 6-3 | 210 | Allen, Texas

Punted for an average of 46.1 yards in 2017 which ranks fifth all-time in school history … his 43.4 net yards per punt ranked second in the NCAA … had 23 punts downed inside the 20 … boomed 30 punts over 50 yards as a senior … averaged 42.9 yards per punt as a junior in 2016.
