LA Sparks Select Shakayla Thomas

The Los Angeles Sparks selected forward Shakayla Thomas with the 23rd pick overall in the 2018 WNBA Draft, announced Executive Vice President and General Manager, Penny Toler.

"Shakayla is super athletic, very talented, a good defender and one of the best rebounding guards in the league," said Penny Toler, LA Sparks Executive Vice President and General Manager.

Thomas averaged 14.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks during her four years with Florida State. The 5-foot-11 forward will go down in Florida State women's basketball history, finishing second in all-time points (1,971) and field goals made (851). Thomas is also top 10 all-time at FSU in rebounds (772 - ninth), points per game (14.6 - eighth) and games played (135 - fourth).

"Shakayla is one of the top athletes in the draft," said Brian Agler, LA Sparks Head Coach. "She's a great rebounder and great off the dribble offensively. We're excited to see her in camp."

A highly decorated player, Thomas joins Leticia Romero as the only three-time All-Americans and was named All-ACC First Team, two-time ESPNW Player of the Week, Cheryl Miller Award Finalist and more.

The LA Sparks also selected center Julia Reisengerova with the 35th pick overall.
