Assembly race to Replace Ridley-Thomas on April 3
This week, Ms. Kamlager has gained the endorsement of Diane E. Watson, a retired U.S. Representative, former U.S. Ambassador and former state legislator and Los Angeles board of education member who is fondly recalled for her dedication to public service, and revered and respected by residents of the 54th Assembly District's diverse communities for her decades-long pursuit of social change.
Ms. Kamlager said, "I'm humbled to have the endorsement of retired Congresswoman Diane Watson. There is no higher honor than to have her support in my campaign for state Assembly. Diane Watson is a public service role model who remains active to this day and who I hope to emulate when I'm elected to serve the people of the 54th Assembly District."
In addition to Ms. Kamlager's endorsement by retired U.S. Rep. Watson, her campaign has gathered endorsements from Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts, Los Angeles African American Women Political Action Committee (LAAAWPAC), AFSCME California, Southern California Armenian Democrats (SCAD), Democrats for Israel (DFI) and the Los Angeles Sentinel.
"My confidence level is high in advance of Tuesday's vote," Ms. Kamlager said. "Voters have been mailing ballots since early this month. Our campaign believes we show good results with VBM voters. Today through Election Day, we're pushing hard to turn out the vote on Tuesday, April 3. I've delivered results for these same voters on important job development efforts as a community college board member. I'm confident I will gain the electoral support I need to do likewise in Sacramento," Ms. Kamlager added.
Ms. Kamlager serves as president of the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustees and district director to California State Senator Holly J. Mitchell. The 54th Assembly District represents residents in South L.A., West L.A., Southwest L.A. and the City of Culver City.
