Democratic Party candidate Sydney Kamlager has been endorsed by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti in her Tuesday, April 3 Special Election campaign to fill the vacant seat in the 54th Assembly District.
Ms. Kamlager said, "I'm very proud to be endorsed by Mayor Eric Garcetti. Mayor Garcetti's leadership has enabled L.A. to remain a world class city that is vibrant and welcoming to all, and that's among the reasons why the Summer Olympic Games will, once again, return to Los Angeles in 2028."
Mayor Garcetti said, "Sydney Kamlager is a fighter. As President of the Los Angeles Community College Board, Sydney Kamlager is working to keep higher education and quality job training affordable for all students. Sydney will be a powerful voice for our families as a member of the state Assembly. I strongly urge you to vote for Sydney Kamlager."
Meanwhile Kamlager has been endorsed by the Women's Political Committee, an influential advocacy organization dedicated to advancing progressive policy issues of importance to women and supporting the campaigns of progressive women candidates.
Ms. Kamlager said, "I'm extremely proud to be endorsed by the women leaders and members of the Women's Political Committee. These are women that have joined ranks from varied walks of life who have long been a determined force supporting the success of progressive women candidates in Los Angeles and across our nation to further their goal of achieving social change that results in progress for women in our communities, workplaces, and society."
Ms. Kamlager currently serves as president of the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustees and district director to California State Senator Holly J. Mitchell. The 54th Assembly District represents residents in South L.A., West L.A., Southwest L.A. and the City of Culver City.
The election will be held on April 3.
