Four candidates have qualified to appear on the ballot in the special election to Replace Sebastian Ridley-Thomas on April 3.
Three Democrats are running. Their names and occupations are as follows: Tepring Michelle Piquado, Educator/Scientist, Sydney K. Kamlager, occupation Trustee, Los Angeles Community College District, and Grayson A. Pangilinan, Green Energy Entrepreneur.
One Republican, Glen Ratcliff a small business owner is also in the race.
Democrat Steve Dunwoody appears to be running as a write-in candidate.
Should no candidate receive more than 505 of the vote the will assume office immediately. If no candidates receive the necessary votes the top two contenders would face a runoff at the state primary on June 5.
With a lopsided registration lead for the Democrats it is highly likely the runoff would be between two Democrats.
Ridley-Thomas cited health concerns in his resignation statement in December.
The term will only fill the unexpired term of Ridley-Thomas and the election on November will fill the seat for a full term beginning on December 3.
