The Culver City Unified School District has confirmed that Farragut Elementary School Speech Teacher Kortney Spencer was one of the shooting victims in the Las Vegas massacre Sunday.

Unconfirmed reports are that she took a bullet to the leg and underwent surgery in the past few days. CCUSD Interim Superintendent Leslie Lockhart said her condition was "stable" and she was recovering. She was also a new employee of the school district.

Information is sketchy at this time and Lockhart stated that the Kortney family had requested privacy while she recovered due to the traumatic situation.

Along with more than 20,000 attendees she was attending the final night of Route 91 Harvest Music Festival.

Jason Aldean was performing on the final night when the shooter began firing rounds from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The crowd first thought the gunshots were fireworks and part of the show. Suddenly the music stopped, Aldean was hustled off the stage and pandemonium erupted as thousands began fleeing the gunfire. It was all over in approximately 10 minutes with 58 people dead and hundreds injured. The shooting now goes down as the largest mass shooting in American history.

More information on Kortney's recovery will be posted at http://www.culvercityobserver.com as soon as it becomes available.
