The Los Angeles Dodgers will open the 2018 season against the San Francisco Giants on Thursday, March 29 and host home games during nearly every summer holiday next season, ary schedule. The league announced the preliminary schedule this week.
The 2018 season will mark just the sixth time that the Dodgers have opened the regular season in the month of March after previously doing so in 1998, 2003, 2008, 2011 and 2014, when they faced the Diamondbacks in the Opening Series in Sydney, Australia. It will mark the 12th time that Los Angeles has played San Francisco in its season-opener (5-6) since the clubs moved west in 1958, and the ninth time that the teams have faced off for the home-opener at Dodger Stadium (5-3).
Dodger Stadium will be the place to be during the summer holidays in 2018, with home games on Mother's Day (May 13 vs. Cincinnati), Memorial Day (May 28 vs. Philadelphia), Father's Day (June 17 vs. San Francisco), Independence Day (July 4 vs. Pittsburgh) and Labor Day (Sept. 3 vs. New York Mets).
The Dodgers will also join Major League Baseball in celebrating Jackie Robinson Day on April 15, when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers and Angels will collide six times during the Freeway Series in 2018, with Los Angeles hosting games July 13-15 and visiting Anaheim July 6-8.
In addition to their I-5 rivals, the Dodgers will square off against the other American League West clubs during Interleague Play, taking on the Athletics (April 10-11), Rangers (June 12-13) and Astros (Aug. 3-5) at Dodger Stadium and traveling to Oakland (Aug. 7-8), Seattle (Aug. 17-19) and Texas (Aug. 28-29).
