Festivities Wrap up Centennial Celebration

Birthday Party in the Park The final week of Culver City’s yearlong birthday party has arrived as the city turns 100 years old. Beginning Saturday September 16, the Centennial Committee is holding a Birthday Party in the Park from 11 am until 3 pm. This will be followed a 100th birthday concert celebration from 3 pm to-7. The event is free and open to the public. The morning and mid-afternoon are devoted to family fun activities. There will be kids’ games provided by our public schools; an arts and crafts area where you can build your own cardboard village, do chalk art, help paint a Centennial mural or a Kindness rock; basketball and paddle tennis and a health and wellness station to learn about nutrition while getting some exercise. We will even have an encampment by the Boy Scouts. They will have a baking contest just like at the County Fair with prizes given out for the best cookies, cupcakes and pies. More information can be found on the centennial’s Facebook page under events. The Culver City Historical Society will be providing free narrated bus tours in the Centennial bus every hour of the historic sites of Culver City and the Archives will be open for viewing the history of Culver City.

You can bring your own lunch or enjoy a plethora of food and from local food trucks and the Exchange Club’s beer garden.
