Pay to Park at City Hall

Council “Blesses” Public with First Hour for Free More than 20 years after the new city hall was opened, the leaders have decided to reach into the pockets of the citizens once again instituting paid parking in the lot under city hall. The City Council has authorized the installation of new “pay on foot” parking control equipment in the City Hall, Watseka, Cardiff and Ince parking structures in order to better manage the City’s parking resources. All drivers who park in excess of one hour will be required to pay their parking ticket at kiosks located on P1 in City Hall and the first floor of the Watseka, Cardiff and Ince parking structures. The installation of equipment in City Hall is currently underway and is estimated to be operational on or about Monday, July 31. Parking rates at City Hall will mirror the current downtown parking rates with the first hour free and $1 for every 30 minutes thereafter up to a $12 daily maximum. Validations will be available for individuals conducting business and attending public meetings at City Hall. Validations will also be available - and provided directly by the Summer Music Festival Producer - for guests of the concert series on August 3 and August 10.
