Culver City High Names Reggie Morris, Jr. Head Basketball Coach

After an extensive interviewing process among a pool of national caliber candidates Culver City High is pleased to announce the hiring of Reggie Morris, Jr. as its new Head Boys Basketball Coach.

Morris has been an Assistant Coach for Division I Loyola Marymount University the past year, after successfully leading Redondo Beach High, St. Bernard High and Leuzinger High to a combined three CIF Championships and one State Title over the course of 14 celebrated years of head coaching success in Southern California.

Morris, who developed NBA superstars Russell Westbrook and Dorell Wright in high school, is excited about joining the Culver City family.

"This is a school that's great at everything – academics, athletics, the arts," he said. "It's amazing how the community rallies around its schools to ensure that every program is outstanding."

Morris, who lives in near-by Silicon Beach, has a history of sending his student-athletes to top tier colleges across the nation after they graduate from high school. UCONN, Xavier, St. John's University, Fresno State, Arizona State, and San Diego State are all recipients of Morris' players over the years.

A believer in more than just Xs and Os, Morris is hoping to build a foundation for sustained student accomplishment at Culver City High for years to come.

"My proudest moments are when former players come back onto campus just to say, 'Hi,'" he said.

Relationships matter to Morris; and we're looking forward to what's to come for all our current and future Centaurs.
