Tenor Sensation Beczala Entertains In Santa Monica

Polish-born Grammy-nominated operatic lyric tenor sensation Piotr Beczala took a quick break from his appearance of a revival of La Boheme at The Met in New York to treat his adoring fans to a recital, for the third time, at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica.

It was a part of The Celebrity Opera Series.

Conducting the orchestra was the very capable and ultra-passionate Maestro Marco Boemi.

Beczala is one of the most sought after lyric tenors of our time and has appeared on the world's leading opera stages. But he also loves giving intimate recital concerts, especially at his Westside home, The Broad Stage.

He is known at his solo shows to display power, finesse and emotion, and that's just what he did on Monday. Beczala prides himself as an opera singer who has impeccable control and tone and a commitment to being technically perfect on each aria.

It also helps his cause that he has a movie-star smile and dashing charisma to go along with his vocal brilliance. A great stage presence.

It was a special program featuring works by Verdi, Puccini, Bizet, Offenbach, and more. Beczala was also kind enough to let the orchestra show its chops on a few orchestral pieces while he rested his sterling voice.

A few of the bright spots of the program was his performance of Verdi's "De' miei boleti spiriti" from La Traviata, "Celeste Aida" from Aida, and Bizet's "La flour sue tu m'avais jetee" from Carmen.

At the conclusion of the regular program Beczala treated the audience to a few encores and left them feeling very satisfied.
