At a recent meeting the members of the Culver City Woman's Club presented 50 stuffed bears, which they made during a year-long project using donated materials, to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to be given to children in foster care.
When children are removed from their homes in emergency situations they are abruptly introduced to foster care and have to cope with the trauma of a sudden separation. Being given a bear that they can cling to and keep with them provides some comfort and helps to lessen their anxiety.
The Woman's Club is a non-profit social and philanthropic organization that supports a number of local charitable organizations. There is a business meeting and lunch on the second Monday of each month at the Culver-Palms Methodist Church, 4464 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City.
