Herman Eisen, who turned 100 this month, celebrated with his favorite dessert, lemon meringue pie, during a Nov. 9 meeting at the Culver City Senior Center.
When asked his secret, he responded, "Gratitude!"
He's lived a life of accomplishment, including having founded the Westchester Pediatric Medical Group, with more than 50 years in private clinical practice in Westchester; having been a physician-mentor on the UCLA Medical School clinical education staff for more than 45 years; and having served as President of The Westchester Medical Society.
Dr. Eisen volunteered extensively on behalf of children's health through the YMCA Summer Camp Program, and offered free medical exams to YMCA campers prior to their summer camp experiences for more than 25 years.
His efforts over the years unquestionably helped add birthday candles to the cakes of many children, so what could have been more fitting than to see him, with one hearty puff, blow out the candles spelling 100 on his birthday pie?
Congratulations!
