Lady Centaurs Move on to CIF Finals

Culver City Swepts Quartz Hills

The Centaurs swept the Quartz Hill (27-3) Lady Rebels 3-0

25-18, 25-18, 25-19. Lena Johnson was named Player of the game. She led the Centaurs with 10 kills and 8 digs. Jessica Stewart and Megan Shimoda each had 10 assists. The Centaurs played one of their best matches so far this season and just had 5 receiving errors, while serving 10 aces and making 17 blocks on the much larger Quartz Hill team.

La Reina (21-7) of Thousand Oaks lost only two sets while going undefeated (12-0) in the Tri-Valley League. The Regents beat Alemany in a five-set nail-biter to make to this year's finals.

They are ranked 140th in the State while Culver is ranked 198.

La Reina, riding a 7-game win-streak, is no stranger to post-season play, the Regent lost in the CIF Division 4AA Finals in 2013, and also lost in the CIF SoCal Sate Finals, in 2014. Last year, La Reina was knocked out of the playoffs in the quarter-finals by Archer Girls School.

The Centaurs and Regents face-off Friday, Veterans Day, at 2pm at Cerritos College. The supporters bus will leave at noon, Friday. Tickets for the game will be sold at the school, Thursday.
