The Sydney Kronenthal Trust recently donated $20,000 for scholarships to the West Los Angeles College Foundation. Kronenthal, former Director of Human Services for Culver City, was an active and popular figure in the city he served for over 50 years. He died at age 92 in October of 2015.
According to trustee Dana Ginsburg, Kronenthal was an early supporter of West Los Angeles College. He served on the board of the college foundation for many years, including a two-year stint as its chairman.
"West is honored by Mr. Kronenthal's generous gift through his estate. His endowment commends student achievement and promotes academic excellence now and in the future. It represents Mr. Kronenthal's longtime visionary commitment to West," said Robert Sprague, interim college president. "Mr. Kronenthal understood our mission and the difference that West makes in students' lives." He continued, "I knew Mr. Kronenthal and his leadership, humor, and deep understanding of West's commitment to transform students' lives. We are privileged to have had him as an advocate, a foundation member, and now as a benefactor."
