ST. HELENA, Calif.Newswire/ -- Sutter Home Family Vineyards has crowned Sara Broomer of Culver City the Grand Prize Winner of its annual Build a Better Burger(R) Recipe Contest, an American institution since 1990.

The winning recipe dazzled the esteemed panel of culinary judges with its spice-infused burger and Peanut Coconut Sambal Sauce. Broomer earned undisputable bragging rights and a $25,000 grand prize.

"We had a little girl on Friday born nearly eight pounds. I'm sure in part due to the necessary "testing" of the burger. It's been a wonderful weekend for our family," said Broomer.

The 26th Annual Sutter Home Build a Better Burger(R) Recipe Contest featured fresh variations on an American classic, with Asian spices, Middle-Eastern touches and a hint of smoke taking center stage. Five finalists were selected from scores of submissions, and each of the four runner-ups received a $1,000 prize from Sutter Home Family Vineyards.

"I especially appreciated the Indonesian Satay Burger, because I've been to Indonesia and I'm familiar with the local flavors," said contest judge Paul Lowe, food stylist and editor-in-chief of Sweet Paul Magazine. "This tasty burger had so many different textures. I really loved the shrimp chips on top and the pairing with Sutter Home Gewurztraminer was perfect."
