The Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA need to find that winning combination that put them at the top of the league with a 21-3 record before the Olympic break a month ago. Since returning from the break they have lost their first two games to Seattle and Phoenix.
Yesterday the Sparks were on the road against San Antonio and they continue their road trip against Dallas on Friday. Their next home games will start on Sunday, at 4 p.m. against Indiana, Tuesday September 6, against Minnesota at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday September 8, against Atlanta at 7:30 p.m. All of their home games will be played at Staples Center.
Their last three games of the regular season will be Sunday, September 11 at Seattle, Tuesday, September 13 at home against Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. and Friday at home against San Antonio at 7:30 p.m.
This year the WNBA playoff format has changed. The top eight teams regardless of conference standings will qualify for the playoffs. Right now the Sparks are in second place in the playoff standings, a half- game behind Minnesota. At press time Minnesota had a record of 22-5 and the Sparks are 21-5.
The Sparks need to claim best record to get home court advantage in the playoffs.
