The UCLA and USC women volleyball teams start their 2016 season this weekend. The Trojans will host the Baden Invitational and the Bruins travel to Loyola Marymount to play in the LMU Invitational.
The Trojans will battle Marquette on Friday at 8 p.m. The Trojans will play two matches on Saturday when they face Santa Clara at 10 a.m. and UC Irvine at 8 p.m. All three matches will be played at the Galen Center on the USC campus.
The Bruins start their season with a 4 p.m. match against Niagara on Friday. They play Illinois State at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and Loyola Marymount at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Al three games will be played at Loyola Marymount.
The Trojans will be led by sophomore Alyse Ford, junior Brittany Abercrombie, senior Taylor Whittingham and senior Elise Ruddins. Another player to watch is freshman Khaila Lanier. She is the daughter of former NBA great Bob Lanier. USC is coached by Mick Haley.
The Bruins will be led by senior Jordan Anderson, junior Reily Buechler, senior Claire Felix and senior Jennie Frager. UCLA is coached by Michael Sealy.
