Culver High Ace Drafted in MLB 3rd Round
The New York Yankees selected Culver City High's ace pitcher Nolan Martinez during the 3rd Round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft this Friday morning, June 10.
The right-handed senior who helped lead the Centaurs to a perfect 10-0 Ocean League title this season was the 98th selection overall and the 45th pitcher selected in this year's draft.
This past November, Martinez, 6'2'' tall and 165 lbs., signed a letter of intent to attend San Diego State University on a full athletic scholarship to play baseball starting this coming fall.
Obviously he and his family will now weigh their options in deciding the future of the Culver City ballplayer. Stay tuned for the complete story in the coming edition of the Culver City Observer.
