Rams Trade For NFL's 2016 Top Draft Pick!

Multi-player Draft Deal with Titans

The Los Angeles Rams 2.0 wasted little time in striking an impression upon its Southern California fanbase and beyond by trading with the Tennessee Titans for the National Football League's 2016 overall No. 1 draft pick today.

The Rams relinquished their #15 first-round pick, two second-round picks (#43 and #45) and a third-round (#76) pick from this year's draft as well as their third-round pick in 2017 for the rights to the NFL's top pick.

The projection is that the Rams will select one of the two top quarterbacks available when the NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 28: either North Dakota State's Carson Wentz or the University of California's Jared Goff.

Los Angeles will also receive Tennessee's fourth (#113) and six-round (#177) picks in this year's draft in the trade that appears to satisfy the immediate needs for both struggling franchises.

The Rams need a top-flight quarterback to successfully compete in the league after spending the past 11 years out of the playoff picture and to re-establish themselves against Southern California's other storied sport franchises in the marketing department.

The Rams last appeared in the 2004 NFL Playoffs when they beat the Seattle Seahawks 27-20 in a wildcard game before losing to the Atlanta Falcons 47-17 in the next round.

In making the trade the Titans needed more than one top draft choice to fill the many gaps in their roster to return to respectability. Their last post-season appearance was a loss to the Baltimore Ravens during the 2008 playoffs.

One thing is clear, 22 years after the team fled to St. Louis the Rams first notable action in their return to Los Angeles signals a determination to take center stage in 'the entertainment capitol of the world' once the 2016 NFL regular season begins this September. Stay tuned.
