Council Race Begins With Eight Potential Runners

Eight Culver City residents took the first step toward becoming candidates in April’s city council election.

Goran Eriksson, Meghan Sahli-Wells, Thomas Aujero Small, Marcus G. Tiggs, Jay B. Garacochea, Scott Wyant, Daniel Lee and Joseph L. Stone, IV took out papers to gather signatures they must file by 5pm Friday January 15.

The petition to run must contain at least 20 and no more than 30 valid signatures of registered voters in Culver City.

Residents interested in running can contact the City Clerk’s Office at 310-253-5851 to make an appointment to receive a Candidate’s Information Packet.

Meghan Sahli-Wells is seeking reelection which leaves two vacant seats. Current councilmembers Andy Weissman and Mehaul O’Leary are barred from seeking another term due to term limits.

The election will be held on Tuesday April 12. The three council members elected will serve a four- year term.
