Culver City Voters elected Kelly Kent with 41% of the votes and Anne Allaire Burke with almost 32% to the Culver City Unified School District Board on Tuesday.

They will replace Nancy Goldberg and Laura Chardiet.

Burke and McVarish ran as a team endorsed and supported by an organization called United Parents of Culver City while Kent was supported by a group called Culver City Community Coalition. Both organizations appear to be a loosely organized group of parents interested in Culver City Schools.

Kent currently serves on the Culver City Parks and Recreation Commission. While there is no requirement for her to vacate that position to serve on the school board she has not yet announced if she will remain on the city commission.

The voter turnout is difficult to compute as voters could vote for one or two candidates but the raw numbers indicate the turnout was fewer than 15 percent. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder will provide more definitive numbers in the coming days.

The unofficial vote totals are as follows:

Candidate Party Votes Percent

KELLY KENT 1,888 41.25

ANNE ALLAIRE BURKE 1,461 31.92

SCOTT MCVARISH 1,228 26.83
