The West Los Angeles College men's cross country team began its 2015 season in dominating fashion as they ran to victory recently at the six-team Ventura Invitational.
The Wildcats' top five runners finished first through fifth place in the four-mile race at Arroyo Verde Park. This was only the second time in the meet's 10-year history that a team swept the top five places with a perfect score of 15 points. It is also believed to be the first time that West's Cross Country Team has won an invitational.
The team was led by the first place finisher, Sophomore Cesar Marquez who was timed in 23:12.7. The West women were led by Sophomore Carly Alanis De La Cruz who had a third place finish with a time of 22:24.1 over 5,000 meters.
