New Comedy Coming To Kentwood

Kentwood Players will present Amy Herzog's dramatic comedy "4000 Miles" from Friday, May 15 to Saturday, June 20 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 2 pm at the Westchester Playhouse, 8301 Hindry Avenue in Los Angeles. Talkbacks with the cast and crew will follow each Saturday night performance.

The production is directed by Gail Bernardi and produced by Susan Goldman Weisbarth by special arrangement with Samuel French. Featured in the cast are Dan Fagan, Alexandra Johnston, Zoe Kim and Michelle Rosen.

After suffering a major loss while he was on a cross-country bike trip, 21 year-old Leo seeks solace from his feisty 91 year-old grandmother Vera in her spacious rent-controlled Greenwich Village apartment that hasn't been redecorated since 1968. The key decorative element is books. Over the course of the month of September in current time, these unlikely roommates infuriate, bewilder, and ultimately reach each other in many ways.

"4000 Miles" looks at how two outsiders find their way in today's hectic world. The play was a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, won the 2012 Obie Award for Best New American Play, and was named Time magazine's #1 Play or Musical of 2012.
