Actor Harrison Ford was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when his vintage plane crashed on Penmar Golf Course near the end of the runway at Santa Monica Airport. The golf course is located in Mar Vista.
Observers commented that Ford skillfully steered the stricken plane away from homes and landed on the course away from golfers.
No one on the ground was injured.
Ford, a veteran pilot, was taken to the hospital with what were first described as critical injuries, however further reports list his injuries as serious but non-life threatening.
Doctors at the golf course assisted Ford until paramedics arrived. The 72 year old actor was said to have lacerations on his face and his face was "bloodied" according to reports.
Ford was alone in the two seater plane.
