The Culver City High girls basketball team beat visiting Quartz Hill High, 63-43, in the first round of the 2015 CIF – Division 1AA Playoffs at Del Goodyear Gymnasium on Saturday night, February 21.
Point guard Lindsey Tanita directed a near-flawless first half offensive attack as the Centaurs quickly established the tone and tempo over the Rebels from the Palmdale area. Katie Lin hit two three-pointers to set the early pace and lead for Culver.
Kailey Tooke's 17 points and Megan Yoon's 15 points led the team in scoring while Gwen Machado and Alex Arancibia successfully countered the Rebel center's height and scoring advantage. The Centaur bench also effectively contributed as all ten players on the roster saw action.
The Culver girls moved up in CIF playoff divisions this year after having won the Division 2AA title last season. They will host Los Alamitos High this Wednesday, February 25, at 7:00 p.m. in Del Goodyear Gymnasium.
