Waterloo & City, a Culver City Gastropub with a British theme, will be closing its doors at the end of the year after 4 1/2 years on Washington Blvd. Newspaper reports claimed Waterloo was doomed by the crushing rent on the 6,000 sq. ft. location.
Chef Brendan Collins announced that he and his business partner Carolos Tomazos will be opening the restaurant again in a much smaller location.
Waterloo replaced the Crest House, a popular Culver City restaurant that closed its doors in 2006 after more than half a century in Culver City.
Brian Dunsmoor and his partner Jonathan Strader have plans to locate new restaurant The Hatchet Hall in the same location as Waterloo.
Plans are now underway to have Hatchet Hall open around March 2015.
