Health Center Friends Discuss Culver Families In Need

The Friends of the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center will have their annual meeting on Wednesday, November 19 at 7 p.m. in the Culver City School District Board Room, 4034 Irving Place.

The featured speaker is Drew Sotelo, Director of School and Family Support Services for the School District, who will discuss “Culver City Schools Help the Homeless and Culver Families with Need.”

Sotelo, who has been with the District for 11 years, possesses an extensive background in child and family services. After teaching Spanish at the high school, he became the high school Assistant Principal Attendance, Activities & Discipline. He then moved to the District Office serving as Assistant Director for Child Welfare and Attendance, Director of Pupil Personnel, and in his current position as the Director of School & Family Support Services.

He is also the Foster Youth and Homeless Youth Liaison. Everyone is welcome to attend the event and learn about Culver City families in need and how the schools are helping them.

After the program Sotelo will install the new Board Members of the Friends of the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center. Current president Dr. Sarah Carpenter will once again lead the Board which includes Andy Alexander and Diana Hauptman, both Presidents Emeritus, Sue Mitchell, Sandy Segal RN, Suzanne Wood, Michele Hindler, Bella Kopulsky RD, Pat Levinson, Joyce Perlick, and Jessica Beagles-Roos PhD. Refreshments will be served after the installation.

The Friends group serves as the fundraising arm of the Health Center. It is located on the campus of Culver City High and Middle School. Free physical and mental health services are provided to children living in Culver City or attending Culver City schools.
