In a seemingly sudden move, Dylan Farris has resigned as principal of Culver City High, effective as of October 24.

Farris announced last week he had been appointed to the position of Executive Director of Human Resources for the El Segundo Unified School District, a post which he will assume on October 27.

According to a letter he sent to the district, assistant principal Lisa Cooper will succeed Farris as interim principal.

In the resignation letter Farris stated: "I've worked at Culver City High School for more than 13 years as a teacher, coordinator, assistant principal, and principal. I have developed so many meaningful relationships with faculty, staff, students, and parent that it is difficult to leave.

"Your support, cooperation, and friendship have made Culver City a wonderful place to work. My proudest accomplishments were those that occurred during my tenure at CCHS."

Farris had learned of the opening in El Segundo last month and applied for the position. He was accepted the day after his second interview on October 7, hence the suddenness of his decision.

Farris has worked for the district for 13 years and has spent the last three as principal of CCHS. He replaced Pam McGee, who retired from the principal position in 2011.
