On Sunday, November 2 at 2 pm The Mayme A. Clayton Library & Museum in Culver City will present another of the late Mimi Melnick's Double M Jazz Salons, headlining influential bandleader, trumpeter, cornetist, composer and educator, Bobby Bradford.
The personnel for Bradford’s cutting-edge Mo’tet includes Bobby Bradford, cornet; Vinny Golia and Chuck Manning, reeds; Michael Vlatkovich, trombone; Don Preston, piano; Ken Rosser, guitar; Roberto Miranda, bass and Chris Garcia, percussion.
Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. At 1 pm, Bradford will briefly reflect on his life and stellar career in an informal discussion with jazz historian Jeffrey Winston.
The first of two sets will begin at 2 pm.
The Mo’tet, will feature several pieces from the John Carter songbook, with Vinny Golia on clarinet. An unwavering architect of the avant-garde movement, the seasoned octogenarian, boldly transcends any and all boundaries --- real or imagined.
