Get ready for a blast-from-the-past as the triumvirate of famous classic rockers - Stephen Bishop, John Ford Coley and Bill Champlin make an appearance at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on September 20.
Collectively, having sold over 100 million records, these three musical giants will take the stage simultaneously performing all of their great hits and also entertain the audience with stories from their experiences on the road and background of the songs they wrote…a trip down memory lane.
Grammy and Oscar-winning Bishop, singer/songwriter/guitarist, had major hits as a solo artist and is best known for two songs – “On and On” and “It Might Be You” – a huge hit from the movie “Tootsie.” And did you know that he had a cameo role in the movie “Animal House?” He was the aspiring folksinger whose guitar is smashed by John Belushi as he’s serenading a gaggle of girls on the stairs at the fraternity party.
Coley is a singer, classically-trained pianist, guitarist, songwriter, actor, and author, but he is mostly known for his harmonious duos with England Dan who died in 2009. Arguably, one of the all-time greatest dynamic duos. Together, they created 11 albums, nine hit singles (best known for “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight”) while receiving numerous Grammy nominations.
You also might remember these memorable tunes – “Nights Are Forever Without You,” “We’ll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again,” and “Love is The Answer.” Coley does an outstanding job in carrying the torch for his fallen partner.
And Champlin is well-known the world-over as the soulful singer/keyboardist of the iconic jazz-pop band Chicago. His featured spots on their mega-hits “Hard Habit to Break” and “Look Away” are among his mainstream highlights. But his defining work as a songwriter with the Sons of Champlin put him on the musical map long before his stint with Chicago. He was blowing the doors off venues back in the ‘70’s – and they returned to doing the same in the late ‘90’s and into the present.
And so are Bishop and Coley. They continue to light up concert halls with their treasured hits made famous in the ‘70’s that still ring true today.
