Doc Rivers has proven himself over the years, most recently as coach of the Boston Celtics and then the Clippers.
Obviously, new Clippers owner Steve Ballmer appreciate having Rivers here.
It was announced this week that Rivers has signed to remain with the Clippers until 2019.
Ballmer has said he'll provide support for Rivers and his staff as the team, on the brink of reaching the NBA Finals the last couple of years attempts to reach that goal.
"We're moving forward. It's fantastic," said Ballmer, who paid $2 billion to purchase the Clippers. "It was one of my priorities that Doc be with us long-term." He's one of the top coaches and executives in the NBA."
During the Clippers' recent difficult stretch in dealing with the uncertainly regarding the future of Donald Sterling as owner Rivers took an active role in various areas besides coaching.
He often became the Clippers' spokesman in numerous matters.
