Theatre buffs and newcomers alike will find something to enjoy in the upcoming summer season of Culver City Public Theatre, starting July 12. The group will be presenting a play by CCPT veteran Blake Anthony Edwards, "The Quibbling Siblings," and Shakespeare's classic comedy "Twelfth Night, Or What You Will."

This will be Culver City Public Theatre's 16th season. CCPT is a nonprofit theatre group and a member of the American Association of Community Theatres. Every play showing is free for the public to attend, and the shows are family friendly. Both plays performed will take place in Dr. Paul Carson Memorial Park.

Starting at noon July 12, CCPT will perform "The Quibbling Siblings," an adaptation of Grimm fairytale "The Four Skillful Brothers." The story is about a group of brothers and sisters who put aside their differences to save a princess from a vicious dragon. "Siblings" is Edwards' third play written for Children's Popcorn Theatre, a production specifically intended for young people to watch. Previous credits include "Big Bad Wolf Tales" and "The Odyssey."

Afterwards, at 2p.m., CCPT will entertain on-goers with a rendition of one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies, "Twelfth Night." In this tale of gender-bending and mistaken identity, a shipwrecked twin sister disguises herself as a man and hilarity results, involving confusion, mischievous house-servants and an inadvertent love triangle.

Those in attendance are encouraged to make themselves comfortable and to bring blankets and lawn chairs and to respect surrounding neighborhoods by not parking in front of those residences. For more information, call CCPT at 310-712-5482 or email them at info@ccpt.org.
