Culver City Police Officers located a stolen SUV on Tuesday after the victim reported it contained three dogs.
On Sunday at approximately 5 pm a gold 1999 Lexus RX300 SUV was reported stolen near Washington Blvd. and Glencoe Ave in West Culver City near Costco. The vehicle contained three dogs, two Chihuahuas and a Havanese.
With rising temperatures, police investigators grew concerned for the welfare of the dogs, knowing that time was becoming a critical factor for their survival. On Tuesday morning officers deployed in the area where the vehicle was last seen and conducted a coordinated, systematic grid search, in an effort to locate and rescue the dogs.
At about 11:30 am the vehicle and three dogs were located; the dogs were in good health and were immediately removed from the vehicle. The owner of the car and dogs was called to the scene and reunited with her dogs. According to police she was extremely thankful for the positive outcome.
