It's Crazy, It's Goofy, It's The NBA

Here's that time of the year again when talented teams with excellent coaches are in danger of finishing as failures.

It gets crazier every year because only eight Western Conference teams qualify for the playoffs and several more barely miss.

There's even talk that Golden State's Mark Jackson could lose his job if the Warriors lose their first round playoff series against the Clippers. What a shame that would be as the Warriors have won 19 more games than they've lost.

I thought it was a shame last season when the Clippers fired Coach Vinny del Negro for losing a first round playoff series after compiling a 17-game winning streak during the regular season.

This would be worse.

The Clippers are the No. 3 seed and the Warriors are currently No. 6. They've had terrific, hard-fought games and a playoff meeting would provide sheer entertainment.

Let's not fire coaches who accomplish so much. Let's congratulate them.

I went to the Clippers' victory over the Lakers Sunday and I thought the Lakers played with more enthusiasm until the Clippers got serious and pulled away.

Coach Doc Rivers believes rest is more important for his players than driving them to the finish line in the weeks prior to the playoffs.

The Clippers have done what's necessary to position themselves for playoff success.
