West Los Angeles College will hold its biennial Open House on April 19 from 10 am to 1 pm. Thirty-minute information sessions will cover admissions, financial aid, degree and certificate options, and services specific to West but that apply generally to all accredited California Community Colleges.
A special longer session will be offered for parents of high school seniors who want to learn how to help their teens enroll and reach their career training or university transfer goals. UC Berkeley, CSUN and Pepperdine University will discuss how to complete the first two years of a Bachelor's Degree at a community college then transfer to their respective campuses (and other UC, Cal States, and private universities) as juniors.
Because community colleges have lower tuition and smaller class sizes than most four-year institutions, students can save thousands of dollars by starting their Bachelor's Degrees at West.
The West Open House is free to the public but some sessions have limited seating. To reserve a seat and secure a free parking pass, visit http://www.WLAC.edu/2014OpenHouse. Other activities are an outdoor Zumba party led by "Miss Debi," a popular local fitness instructor. All levels are welcome to participate. There is even fun for the kids – a 35-foot obstacle course, bouncers and popcorn. Information on the college's summer programs and camps for children and teens will also be available with discounts if you sign-up at the event.
Open House attendees can enter a raffle for a $25 credit toward one of the college's Westside Extension classes. Westside Extension offers a wide range of career, recreational and personal interest courses.
West Los Angeles College is located at 9000 Overland Avenue, Culver City. A second convenient entrance is at 10100 Jefferson between LaCienega and Overland. The #3 Culver City Bus can bring you right to the heart of campus.
West is an accredited community college offering full- and part-time paths of study leading to university transfer and in-demand careers in healthcare, technology, entertainment behind the scenes, law enforcement, pre-school education, law, business and more. In addition to the traditional classroom setting, West has one of the most well-regarded online community college programs in Southern California.
