West Los Angeles College will again offer a Winter Session, thanks to a return of more adequate funding to the accredited California community colleges. Most of the over 70 sections are transferrable to the University of California and California State Universities (e.g. UCLA, UC Irvine, CSUN, Cal State Dominguez) and other major universities. The 4-week winter session begins January 6, 2014 and offers a great way for community college students to get ahead and current university students to complete general education courses quickly and for less than they pay at their universities.
The core subjects offered include Anthropology, Art History, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Communications, Economics, English, Geography, Geology, History, Law, Math (Algebra, Statistics, Trigonometry), Music Appreciation, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Spanish.
New students class registration began on November 4. Students interested in attending the Winter Session should submit their applications now to receive a class registration appointment date. Applications may be completed online at http://www.WLAC.edu.
"We are glad to be able to reinstate our summer and winter sessions. This allows us to serve more students and for those students to complete their programs in a more timely manner," said college president Nabil Abu-Ghazaleh. "Moreover, the expansion of our course offerings in all sessions is allowing more students to take on full-time loads which are correlated with successful outcomes, particularly for traditional college age students."
