The California Employment Development Department (EDD) projects the job market for medical assistants in Los Angeles County will increase 29.2% until 2018, with an average of 876 openings per year. The median wage for medical assistants in the county is $29,962.
West Los Angeles College recently graduated its first class of medical assistant students and all who attempted the professional exam at the end of the program passed. As the next class approaches the mid-point of the one-year program, a free information session will be held for people interested in joining the next in-coming class on Wednesday, December 4 or Tuesday, January 14 at 5:00pm. A tremendous saving in tuition is available by completing this program at an accredited community college like West.
Medical assistants perform office administrative tasks, patient scheduling, obtain patient vital signs, administer medications, perform and interpret basic EKGs, perform injections and collect blood for testing.
