Culver’s first road opponent will be Peninsula Friday at 3 pm.

Peninsula routed North Torrance in its season opener, 51-0.

The game took on more significance for Culver City when the Centaurs’ lost their opening game. Another loss to begin the season would be quite disappointing.

SANTA MONICA

The defending Ocean League champion Vikings won their season opener, 17-14, at Redondo and will play at Palisades Friday night (7 pm).

Demicio Gonzalez Drake kicked a game-winning field goal in the final minute for Coach Travis Clark’s team.

Santa Monica was behind, 14-7 until Nico Basile threw a touchdown pass. Basile had replaced starting quarterback Jordan Detamore in the second quarter.

Palisades won its opening game, 52-12 over Marshall as Tim Hyde became a head coach following 18 years as an assistant.

ST. MONICA

The Mariners bounced back from their opening game loss to Village Christian by winning at Malibu, 38-0.

St. Monica will play on Saturday at 7 pm, opposing Mary Star at Palisades High.

BRENTWOOD

The Eagles had a bye last week and will host Kilpatrick Friday at 3 pm.

WINDWARD

The Wildcats are 2-0. They won at Hamilton ,. 20-17 and defeated Santa Clarita Christian, 20-6.

VENICE

One of the marquee games of the Westside high school football season is scheduled for Friday night when perennial power Oaks Christian visits Venice.

The Gondoliers often schedule high profile non-league opponents to prepare for the Western League.

Last Friday Venice routed Salesian, 57-0.
