Garden Club To Celebrate 60th Annual Show

Garden Club To Celebrate 60th Annual Show

The Culver City Garden Club will host its 60th Annual Show & Sale on Saturday, June 22 from, 10 am to- 5 pm,at Star Education, 10117 Jefferson Blvd., Culver City.

The event as always is free and there is free parking in the area.

They will celebrate the anniversary with an Exhibition of homegrown plants, flowers and edibles. There will also be a Club Sales table and a raffle. All are welcome.

The first Show was probably held in the Culver City National Guard Armory in 1953. Eisenhower was the new U.S. president; the structure of DNA was discovered; Hillary & Norgay were the first to reach the summit of Mt. Everest; Elvis graduated high school; the Chevy Corvette 247 was introduced; children lined up for the new polio vaccine; JFK married Jacqueline Bouvier and entered the Senate; T.V. dinners were new in stores; insulin was isolated and Stalin died.

That was a long time ago, but the Club is still supporting gardening and educating the public about plants and nature.
