Culver Baseball Has Awards Banquet

Culver Baseball Has Awards Banquet

The Culver City High Baseball 2013 Banquet and Awards Night was held at the American Legion Hall on Sepulveda Blvd. in Culver City on Wednesday, June 5. Coach Rick Prieto related the night’s proceedings.

“We thanked our administration, Principal Dylan Farris, Vice Principal Dr. Jon Chapman and Athletic Director Tom Salter. We especially honored our great parents for all they did this year for the baseball program, from transporting our players to games, their generous donations, fundraising, working the snack bar and an overwhelming turnout on Clean Up Day at the baseball field.

“A special thank you went to our liaisons Emily Hutta, Pat Sterner, Jennifer Stewart; those behind-the-scenes parent supporters, John Hennessy, Peter Stewart, and Chip Netzel and in addition a huge thank you to all the parents who helped put our great banquet together.”

Also acknowledged was the reporting and support by the Culver City Observer for covering the team the entire baseball season as well as reporting on every single game from Opening Day to the final CIF Playoff game.

Italian food was on the menu for the evening. It was reported as being excellent with lasagna as the main course and the desert was just as appetizing. Before the team awards were announced, everyone enjoyed a slideshow of the Culver City Little League's Challenger Program, JV and Varsity baseball teams.

But the banquet doesn’t signal the end of the baseball season as much as the new season has already begun in preparation for next year. The team is already preparing for next season.

Coach Prieto added, “All are preparing for the new season which starts in the summer and continues through the fall/winter season. We’ll be working on the fundamentals of baseball in addition to conditioning and weight lifting. Once we establish our team and individual goals we will focus daily on achieving our goals in practice.”

In essence, Culver City Baseball really means ‘the boys of summer’ are truly ‘the boys for all seasons.’
