The Los Angeles Community College District extends its heartfelt condolences to all the victims of Friday’s tragedy at Santa Monica College and the surrounding area and to all the families of those affected.

District officials have pledged their support to Dr. Chui L. Tsang, superintendent/president of Santa Monica College, and will offer whatever assistance might be needed in the days ahead.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department provides law enforcement services for all nine LACCD colleges. In consultation with district officials, the Sheriff’s Department analyzes and reassesses its procedures on a continuing basis.

“We want everyone on all our campuses to feel safe at all times,” said LACCD Board of Trustees president Steve Veres. “We work closely with law enforcement to make sure that is the case as much as humanly possible.”
