Car Torn in Half Kills Two

Two people were killed early on Friday morning prior to the Memorial Day weekend. The accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Green Valley Circle in Culver City.

The Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic Division is investigating the deadly crash. The 2002 Honda Accord crashed when the driver lost control while traveling at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole near the Westfield Culver City mall. The impact caused the vehicle to split in two. At least one occupant was thrown from the vehicle.

The accident snarled traffic along Sepulveda Blvd into the morning.

Los Angeles County coroner's officials indentified one of the victims as Zachary Duncan, 22, of Los Angeles. The name of the18-year-old male passenger has yet been released. Both victims died at the scene.
