Dear Editor

On Monday, March 4 I had the opportunity to attend a special news conference held at the Culver City Police Department. At that time, a new life-saving service called SMART911 was introduced.

This service is now available free of charge to all Culver City residents and covers pets as well.

Culver City is the first city in California to offer the benefits of SMART911 to each of us. According to Mayor Andrew Weissman, Police Chief Don Pedersen and Fire Chief Christopher Sellers, SMART911 enables you to create a secure "Safety Profile" for your household that includes any relevant information you want 9-1-1 to have in case of an emergency.

As soon as anyone in your household dials 9-1-1 from any phone connected with your Safety Profile, whoever takes that call will immediately have access to all of the information in your Safety Profile, such as your address, names of family members and pets, medical conditions, medications, emergency contacts, your pet's license, microchip and vet numbers and photos, as well as any additional data you consider important.

This information will enable the emergency response team to be properly prepared when they reach you and your loved ones.

Please take a moment to visit www.SMART911.com. Also please let your family, friends, neighbors, Facebook contacts and work colleagues know about SMART911. It only takes a few minutes to log in and sign up, and those few minutes could save a life.
