Culver City High has had some outstanding girl’s basketball teams in recent years.
This season, it looks like Coach Julian Anderson has another one.
The Centaurs have a 6-2 record and have overwhelming success in some games.
After winning the first quarter from Bellflower High, 27-2, Culver went on to a 60-19 victory. In another non-league game Culver routed North Torrance, 62-39.
After losing two of their first three teams the Centaurs have won five in a row and appear to be a challenger for supremacy when Ocean League play begins.
Senior guard Taylor Tanita was one of the stars of last season’s outstanding team.
In boys basketball. Culver hasn’t been nearly as successful as the girls, losing eight of their first 12 games.
But there have been some standout individual accomplishments.
Isaac Girley scored 14 points in one game, Armani Nicolis took 10 rebounds in another, Dantley Brown was named Culver’s Player of the game in another and football star Julius Wilson has brought his hustle and intensity to the court.
The Centaurs will host West Torrance in their final non-league game Jan. 2 and will begin Ocean League play at Morningside on Jan. 9.
